Plan Production Using AutoCAD^®'s Sheet Set Manager

Sets of drawings are the primary deliverable for most design groups. Sets of drawings communicate the overall design intent of a project and provide the documentation and specifications for the project. Consider how you manage an entire plan set. There are usually multiple layouts in multiple drawings. Plotting the set means you need to keep track of which drawings and what layouts must be plotted and in what order. It's true the Publish command is a good start to solving this problem. Without the Publish command your plotting task can be a long laborious task of opening each drawing, running the plot command, over and over again. You run into the same difficulty when you want to renumber sheets. Sheet Set Manager solves these problems. It helps you organize your drawing files and provides many more features which save you time and effort.

What is a Sheet Set?

With the Sheet Set Manager, you can manage drawings as sheet sets. A sheet set is an organized and named collection of sheets from several drawing files. A sheet is a selected layout from a drawing file.

A Sheet Set is:

A list of layouts
An Organized System for creating and managing a group of Layouts from multiple drawings or a single drawing
A Sheet Set Palette is where you organize your sheets, views, model drawings

What is Sheet Set Manager used for?

You can import a layout from any drawing into a sheet set as a numbered sheet. The sheets in a sheet set can be transmitted, published, and archived as a unit.
